Airlie 33. Display Home – Boutique Homes Victoria. Clyde North

So Victoria has two Airlie 33 display homes – not sure why they didn’t make one an Airlie 38???  The front facade is even the same!!!  Anyway, here are the pictures I took of this display…

IMG_0105 IMG_0104 IMG_0103 IMG_0102 IMG_0101 IMG_0100 IMG_0098 IMG_0099 IMG_0097 IMG_0096 IMG_0095 IMG_0093 IMG_0090 IMG_0088 IMG_0087 IMG_0086I like the styling of the Wollert home better I think.  Although, I do like this carpet as well, and I LOVE the grey floor tiles in the bathroom.  I’m not a big fan of the dark overhead cupboards in the kitchen, I much prefer the white as displayed at Wollert.  So glad that Wollert displayed it white with white as that is how I want it to look.  My hubby couldn’t imagine how it, so thankfully the display opened before our colour selection appointment.

Can you “imagine” different colours, or do you need to see it clearly in the flesh?

Airlie 33. Display home – Boutique Homes Victoria – Wollert VIC

So as you know, we are going to build the Airlie 38, (which is actually 41) by Boutique Homes Victoria.  I thought you might like to see the display home pictures I took of the Airlie 33 located in Wollert, Victoria.  The floor plan is fairly different but you’ll get the drift.

Front lounge…  This is a sunken lounge, ours won’t be.  We only have a window at the front, and we are going to close it in and have double doors.

IMG_1390 IMG_1389 IMG_1387

Laundry.  Ours will have the same layout as this, including the overhead cupboards.  We have a top loader, so going to do a laminate bench top for now.  When we need to replace the washing machine (hopefully many many years down the track) we will change the bench to stone.  We won’t have the tall cupboard – that area will actually become a mud room – so excited for this.  I’ll chat about it another time….IMG_1323

Powder Room – Ours won’t be so fancy… just the basic loo and a standard basin and vanity for us.

IMG_1325 IMG_1326

Kitchen – LOVE this space!!!  I plan on having the white cupboards, the window splash back and the black in the corners.  We will have a “normal” island bench – rectangle in shape not square.  I would love the induction cook top, but sadly I think it will be too expensive, so gas for us.  Our fridge will not be integrated (it’s the giant door next to the coffee machine and microwave)  I look forward to having a fridge with chilled water on demand!!!  No coffee machine either – but don’t worry, we have our trusty Aldi one!!!  I LOVE the sink – it’s a Pete Evans one….   We are going to go with a standard spout on the island bench, and change it ourselves to a funky black one after handover!!!  Would have loved a black sink too, but Boutique don’t offer them and I’m guessing that would be a little hard to change after!IMG_1338 IMG_1336 IMG_1351 IMG_1349 IMG_1343 IMG_1341 IMG_1340

IMG_1351

Pantry –  Can’t wait for this either – so much space!!!  Ours will be slightly different as we are blocking the second entrance, so you can only enter from the kitchen and not the hallway.  The window splash back in here is also an upgrade which we are doing  :)

IMG_1347 IMG_1346 IMG_1344

Lounge / Dining / Outdoor Living Space – Again we have changed this area.  We flipped the Lounge and Outdoor Living.  So the Outdoor space will flow from the kitchen, and the Living and dining are next to each other. No fire for us  :(

IMG_1334 IMG_1333

IMG_1357 IMG_1355 IMG_1354 IMG_1352

Staircase – we are having timber stairs.  I hate trying to vacuum carpet on stairs, a broom will be much easier.  And the carpet wears quickly in the middle, so ends up looking ordinary very quickly.  Not having any of the fancy glass, just normal plaster walls for us, and I think a smaller window.IMG_1382

Upstairs – Retreat.

IMG_1379IMG_1359

Master Bedroom – Ours is a different layout, but here are the pictures.

Thinking this carpet????

Please note, all these pictures were taken by me.  Boutique have better quality ones on their website.

What do you think?  What are you draws you in, and what don’t you like?

Building: Boutique Homes Victoria – Airlie 38

So my husband and I are walking down the path of building a new home.  I would be lying if I said it has been a joyous occasion – the soil hasn’t even been turned and many a tear has already been shed.  So many of my friends and family have trod this path, and they all have similar stories.  At first visiting display homes is exciting – but then after two weekends  the “novelty” wears off and the kids are over it, and lets be honest so is the hubby!!!  I remember being a teenager and visiting houses for over a year with my mum and siblings – ahhhhhhh, just build the house already, any house will do, I just want my own bedroom!!!  So after driving across the state we found our home.  I’m not going to call it a “Dream Home” – as that would involve a mega sized house with cleaners and cooks and a trainer – and of course a quarter for them all to live in!!!  It would have a pool with water slide and swim up bar, a couple of tennis courts (one for the adults and one for the kids), actually lets have two pools while we are at.  The Theatre room would be a full sized cinema and there would be numerous spaces for entertaining and relaxing.  So while we wait to win lotto for the “Dream Home”, we are going to build our “Family Home”.

When we first started looking we found plenty of homes we liked, some I was drawn to by the facade, others the floor plan and some quickly got cut from the list when we sat down and studied the plans. Initially, we were going to extend our existing home, but after working on the plans we just couldn’t quite get what we wanted.  A lot of people told us to knock down and start over… so to cut a long story short, that’s what we are doing.

The home that ticked most of the boxes with minimal changes (as changing the plans costs money) is The Airlie – by Boutique Homes Victoria.  The downside is the floor plan we are building doesn’t have a display.  Both displays are the Airlie 33 and we are building the Airlie 38 with an extension over the garage creating a ‘Grand Master’ – making the home 41 squares.  We won’t know our ourselves in this large home!

IMG_1575

Some of the main points on our list were:

– Wider garage:  lots of the garages were only 5.5m x 6m – this size garage might fit two cars in it, but good luck opening the doors with children, and where are you going to store the bikes, prams, lawn mowers, christmas tree and all the other garage stuff???  (And my husband doesn’t even have many tools.)

– Walk in Robes:  I wanted WIR’s for the children’s bedrooms as I had one as a teenager and my siblings didn’t.  It was the best.  So much space and it’s easier to keep it neat and you can actually use the whole space.  No trying to squeeze things under the wardrobe frame to make use of the space towards the roof.  AND for me – I wanted a huge WIR – think Carrie Bradshaw.  I love clothes and hats and have dreamt of the day when they can all hang neatly with a nice little space between each item.  My friends know I am a little obsessive compulsive when it comes to clothes.  I fold them perfectly, put them in colours and lengths etc.  (I blame working in retail as a teenager and using a ‘folding’ board. lol)  My Walk In Robe, or in this case, my Walk In Room (either way WIR) will have just the basic fit out to start – one rail and one shelf.  Down the track I hope to fit it out properly. (squeal with excitement)

IMG_1307
IMG_1287 IMG_1304

–  Walk in Pantry:  I keep my pantry like my clothes… It’s going to have a sink and all.  So exciting to be able to see all of my groceries, without feeling like I’m playing a game of chess or jenga.  The juicer can stay on the bench, but it’s hidden from the main kitchen. yeah!!!  Who knew a pantry could be so exciting?

–  A Sewing/Craft Space:  I have sooooooooo much craft stuff.  But I find it hard to use it when I can’t access it easily.  My own little crafty paradise!!!

–  A Mud Room:  This is quite American, but we wanted a space where the school and sports bags can hang and dirty shoes can come off.  We wanted it to be in a concealed space so we don’t have to look at it – it never looks tidy, but I wanted it to be accessible – I know I will be searching for notes and lunch boxes when the life chapter of school starts next year.  OMG – I going to be a school mum!!!

–  An Office:  Hubby wanted his own office.  We saw a few displays where the office was off the master.  We really liked this idea and it suits our lifestyle.

–  Rumpus/Theatre/Formal Living/Formal Dining :  We wanted a room downstairs where it could be whatever we wanted it to be.  We figure as the children grow our needs will change too.  To start this room will most likely be a rumpus, when teenagers possibly a theatre and maybe one day a formal dining – now that sounds nice!!!

– Entertaining Space:  We like to entertain and wanted a great outdoor/indoor space. With this house being built in Melbourne it really needed to work both indoors and outdoors.  To start the outdoor space is very basic.  We will extend this space and build in a BBQ down the track.  A pizza oven has been suggested and I imagine some nice comfy lounges and a sun bed.  During the cooler months the back of the house is nice and open and will be great for entertaining, especially around our giant island bench.

So these were the main things on our wish list – there were certainly a few more but at some stage the “B” word (budget) has to come play.  Sob sob sob.

We do our colour selection next week… it’s finally a step forward, in a long drawn out process… and we haven’t even got to council yet… ahhhhhhhhhh.

Anyway, all good things come to those who wait…. so here is the floor plan…  What do you think?  What was on your “Wish List” when building a new home?  Has anyone built with Boutique Homes Victoria – I would love to hear from you.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – Disneyland

On a recent family holiday to America in April, my daughter celebrated her 5th Birthday.  Her rather extravagant birthday present was a transformation into a Disney Princess.  She is very much into everything girly and LOVES the Princesses.  She was super excited and couldn’t wait for her transformation.  As she wash’t having a birthday party this year, and we can’t see ourselves getting back to America anytime soon, we purchased the Castle package for her.

Upon arriving, she was allowed to choose which Princess she wanted to be.  Of course it was Elsa from Frozen, but of course it was sold out.  We knew this was more than likely going to be the case as staff in all the Disney stores we had visited throughout the States had already told us it was sold out.  Her next choice after what felt like 3 hours of deliberation was Sleeping Beauty.

SONY DSC

Her dress was placed in a change room, but upon putting it on, she changed her mind… The staff were wonderful and she was allowed to pick again…  This was the Aurora dress, the one she didn’t end up liking.

SONY DSC

Her next choice was Rapunzel, which thankfully she was happy with.  So once she was dressed, a gown was placed over the top and she sat in her salon chair.  Her Fairy Godmother then did her hair, make up and nails.  (She got to choose her hair style too)

She had to blow on her nails and then say “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” – the magic made her nails dry.  She loves saying this now when painting her nails at home.

SONY DSC

A little more magic with her new wand (part of the package, along with the tiara) to open the curtain revealing her transformation.  This was a priceless moment – the look on her face was just so special.  She was a Princess!!!

SONY DSC

With her transformation complete, she now had a photo session.  This did involve a little bit of a wait, and then another wait for the photos.  It was very busy in the Boutique, and a little bit of a production line, but to be honest, Annie didn’t notice at all.  It was heaven in her eyes.

Our Little Man became a Knight.  This involved him getting his hair done – which he was NOT impressed with.  He has long hair and hates it being brushed, unless it is with a soft bristle brush.

SONY DSC

A little bit of Mickey glitter, a sword and a shield and all his worry in the world was gone.

SONY DSC

After we had the photos in hand, (again part of the package) we were taken to the castle to meet the Princesses.  This made the $US 200 worth every penny!!!  We got to bypass the queue which the sign said was about 2 hours long.  We had our own entry as well.

After a knock, knock, knock, we were taken inside.  Annie was thrilled to see Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty.  I was happy to see how much time and attention the characters gave to the children.  It really was magical.  (So wish I had have had this experience when I was little)

Next was Mulan – she was so sweet.  She asked who they wanted to see next and Jack said Aerial.  So she made them close their eyes, held their hands, and walked them to her.  It was so so sweet.  I couldn’t believe that they could make the experience so personal.

IMG_0659The whole Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience was amazing, and something Annie will remember forever I’m sure.  Although the Castle Package is expensive, I really think it was worthwhile. Annie loves all the bits and bobs she got to keep and still wears her dress up!!!

Ahoy me matey’s – Pirate Playground is OPEN!!!

IMG_1167Whilst going for a run around the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne on Tuesday I noticed that a fence was missing… the fence had been keeping out my super excited and lover of all things pirate, son, out of a new giant playground.  A playground in the shape of Pirate Ship.  After dropping my daughter at Kindergarten, Jack and I often walk/ride around the river, and every time we passed the playground he wanted to go in.  It’s hard to explain to a 3 year old that it’s not finished – it looked finished enough for him!!!  One day the fence was open while the workers were there.  He thought it was “open” for him!!!  “Look mum, it’s open” he screamed with delight.  When I explained that the gate was open so they could finish it (and not open for kids) he completely lost it. I wonder if it’s too much to ask that in future councils put up giant tents covering new playgrounds so nobody can see them!!!  lol.

Anyway, it’s open!!!  After completing our walk around the river (Jack in a pram so I could get some exercise) we went to discover the new ship.  Wow – Moonee Valley City Council, you have out done yourself!!!  It is amazing.  We loved it, and I can’t wait to take my daughter.  There was a slide, tunnel, treasure chest and a Captains Quarters to name a few elements.  It won’t be long and I’m sure this playground will become the most popular in the area.  With a number of options for coffee near by, and the beautiful river to set the scene it is perfect!!!  I also believe that there might be another stage – so more equipment to come…. How exciting!!!

I also heard another mum say that the official opening is on July 15 – but I’m not 100% sure on that.

Hope to see you there!!!

Where:  If you go to the corner of Fawkner St & The Boulevard, Aberfeldie – you will hit the  parking entrance.

Lolly Table – 13th Birthday

I styled a Lolly Table for a friends daughters 13th birthday party – I still can’t believe she is 13.  I’m sure she was a newborn just yesterday!!!  I totally forgot to take a photo early in the night, and by the time I remembered it was dark, hence the poor photo quality.  It was a simple table but the blue looked great on the night.  The children were so excited when the   table “opened” and the sweet treats were gone in a few minutes.  Happy 13th Mikayla!!!

Smart Exposure’s McGrath Foundation Fundraising Lunch 2013

It’s been almost a year since this event, but I just stumbled across these photos and thought they were too beautiful to not share.  I was really proud of this table and so honoured to be a part of this day.  Thanks to Anissa from Smart Exposure for asking me to style this table for the McGrath Foundation Luncheon.  It was a fabulous day, and hopefully  I can make this years event.

When did that happen?  My daughter is party obsessed – I wonder where she gets that from?  She might take after my husbands side in looks, but she is all me in terms of creative spirit. (insert proud face here – any former students of mine will know what I’m referring to here.lol)

So here is a pile of photos and then I will discuss the list of vendors or products. Enjoy – she certainly did.

Time to get organised…

So I have been missing in action for a while now… we are all busy lets face it. Unfortunately this blog is one of the first things that dropped off the ever growing “To Do List”.  BUT – I am back, and with a recent surge of motivation to get THE LIST down I decided to start with a few quick and simple tasks.

First stop – IKEA:  When living in Melbourne I had a fear of IKEA.  It was a decent drive from home, I worked full time, and it’s not a place you wish to visit on the weekend.  My husband and I learnt that the hard way.  Anyway, when we moved to Sydney, it was located close to home and as I wasn’t working I could go during the day.  So what was once a stressful place, actually isn’t that bad.  (Plus my daughter loves the child minding – BONUS, and my too young to go into said child minding son loves the 50c ice-cream)  Anyway, I wanted to sort the kids pencils – I had the usual pencil cases, but they were kept in a drawer which was tough to open and for young children I think it is hard to see what they have inside.  Hence, pencils all over the table or floor.  So I purchased these beautiful tins – pretty sure they are for plants.  I got my Stampin’ Up Big Shot out and the largest Stampin’ Up Framelits from the ‘Apothecary Accents’ set.  I had some chalkboard fabric which I purchased from a fabric store some time ago.  This is the end result.

Stampin' Up 'Apothecary Accents' Framelit

Stampin’ Up ‘Apothecary Accents’ Framelit

IMG_2773I am still trying to decide what to write on the labels – at this stage I’m thinking that each child will have a tin, and the third can be ‘Share’.  The share tin will have items like scissors, rulers and erasers.  They are already a hit!!!

Did you know I am a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator?

If you like the look of the Stampin’ Up Big Shot or Framelits, contact me to find out more about purchasing these items.

Jack & The Beanstalk 2nd Birthday

So my baby turned TWO in January!!!  I can’t believe it – where did that two years go?  When thinking of a party theme we were reading Jack and the beanstalk over and over – he loved the giant!!!  So that is where the theme came from.

I searched on pinterest and google, and I was surprised to find that there hadn’t been many parties done using this theme.  But what had been done, had been done well!!!

There were 10 children attending the party of varying ages and their parents. It turned out pouring with rain -ALL day, so the games I had planned got the ‘axe’.  Although it rained, it wasn’t cold.  It was hot and very humid – causing some issues with the food. Jack’s cottage (the cake) melted and was falling apart, but my little man didn’t care – he was thrilled!!!

So here are some pictures… enjoy!
